Dr Manuel Yuhico is a consultant Urologist at Mater Private Hospital Townsville and Townsville University Hospital. He is well known as Dr Jimmy in the Public Hospital as it is easier to remember. Dr Jimmy has received training from several overseas centres. He underwent Fellowship in Peadiatric Urology, Female Urology and Artificial Sphincter Devices at the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, USA. He has published 2 chapters in Bladder Physiology and Urinary Incontinence. His expertise in Endourology and Laser was obtained after training at the University of Rennes, France. He also underwent specialty training in Minimally Invasive Urology including laparoscopic and Robotic Assisted Surgery for a total of 4 years of Fellowship at the Nepean Hospital in Penrith, and at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons while at Fellowship in Australia.
Dr Jimmy Yuhico is heavily involved in the training of future doctors and in public service. He currently holds the position of full time Senior Staff Specialist at the Public Hospital. He is a Senior Lecturer at James Cook University Medical School where he attends to lectures and supervision of medical students. As he is involved in the training of surgical trainees, he is a Surgical Educator and a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators as required by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
